When you first find out that you have an upcoming relocation to Hopewell Virginia, one of your first decisions is whether to look at new homes in Hopewell Virginia or existing homes in Hopewell Virginia. You can also contract to have a home built to your specifications. While it may be tempting to build a new home from scratch, you have to factor in the stress of not having a permanent home during the months of construction. You may want to consider “spec” homes that builders have almost completed. This will give you the freedom to choose colors and styles, but will also enable you to move into your new home shortly after your relocation to Hopewell Virginia. I have friends that lived in a 2 room efficiency motel for 5 ½ months (with 2 children and a dog!) while their home was being built. She told me that she would never do that again. She loved having a new home, but has decided that if she ever moves across country again, she will not subject her family to that experience again.
The city owes its existence to its site overlooking the James and Appomattox Rivers. City Point, the oldest part of Hopewell, was established in 1613 by Sir Thomas Dale. It was first known as "Bermuda City", which was changed to Charles City, lengthened to Charles City Point, and later abbreviated to City Point. "Charles City Point" was in Charles City Shire when the first eight shires were established in the Colony of Virginia in 1634. Charles City Shire soon became known as Charles City County in 1637. An area of the county south of the river including City Point became Prince George County in 1703. During the American Civil War, City Point was the headquarters of General Ulysses S. Grant during the Siege of Petersburg in 1864 and 1865. The City Point Railroad, built in 1838 between City Point and Petersburg played an important role in the campaign, and later became the oldest portion of the Norfolk and Western Railway, itself now a part of Norfolk Southern. -- Source: Wikipedia.com AskMe a Question About Hopewell, VirginiaTo ask a question or make a comment about Hopewell, Virginia Click Here.
